Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will support the Finance Department while preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Performs general accounting duties as assigned
• Performs month-end close
• Prepares monthly financial reports (balance sheets, income statements, borrowing bases)
• Books entries to the general ledger
• Reconciles 80+ client bank accounts monthly
• Reconciles credit card statements
• Invoice generation and Accounts Receivable collections
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
• Maintains fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Maintains Accrual schedules
• Performs variance analyses
• Creates Standard Operating Procedures and process workflows
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Assists with budget creation and forecasting
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Proficient in QuickBooks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting required
• One to three years of related experience
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
