The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, expense and invoice tracking, assisting with daily accounting processes, and month-end close procedures. This role ensures the integrity of accounting information and provides financial support across all departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, expense and invoice tracking, assisting with daily accounting processes, and month-end close procedures. This role ensures the integrity of accounting information and provides financial support across all departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate financial records by properly recording, filing, and reporting all financial transactions through the accounts payable subledger.
- Process vendor transactions in the company's accounting system, ensuring proper coding, approval routing, and accurate payment processing via check or ACH.
- Maintain vendor records up to date including accurate contact and payment information.
- Reconciles company credit card transactions on a monthly basis ensuring proper GL coding.
- Maintain W-9 forms and manage 1099 filing process at year-end.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process by assisting with balance sheet account reconciliations including accruals.
- Assist with external audit requests by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist the team with special projects or tasks as needed.
- Serve as backup for various accounting functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This is not a supervisory position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel required.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, auditing, and accounting principles, standards, and practices.
- Experience with accounting software and financial systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge or experience with agencies involved in homelessness, childcare, and funding social services preferred.
- Must possess outstanding critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately processing large volumes of data.

- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
