As a key contributor to the finance team, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in daily accounting tasks, supporting the Senior Accountant in various financial activities, and ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded in line with accepted accounting principles.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Accountant in daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the grant coding process, ensuring all transactions are coded appropriately for accurate reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Compile and maintain documentation for audits, grant reports, and other financial reviews.
- Help in preparing schedules for external auditors during annual audits.
- Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and regulations, particularly as they relate to non-profit organizations.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.
- Provide support in budgeting processes under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.
- Perform other ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Director of Finance.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with a preference for experience in a non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
