The Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston-Downtown (MDCOB – UHD) invites applications for tenure track positions of Assistant or Associate Professors of Accounting. MDCOB – UHD is accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). MDCOB – UHD enrolls approximately 2,500 undergraduate, and more than 1,100 graduate students; and employs 19 full-time accounting faculty members. The home campus for this position is the Downtown Houston campus but may comprise teaching assignments on UHD’s Northeast and Northwest campuses.
Position Description: Candidate must demonstrate evidence of, or potential for high-quality teaching and scholarship. The position is a full time 9-month, tenure-track appointment beginning August 1, 2025 which requires teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses scheduled during daytime, evening, and weekend hours; in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. or D.B.A. in accounting from an AACSB accredited business school is required. ABD candidates with guaranteed completion of a Ph.D. or D.B.A. no later than July 2025 may apply. All areas in accounting are considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates that meet the requirements for being classified as “Scholarly Academic” per AACSB criteria, demonstrate commitment to pedagogical best practice initiatives and instructional excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses in face-to-face, hybrid, fully online and flipped classroom delivery models. Candidates with demonstrated potential for, and commitment to high-quality academic research; willingness to participate in business, industry and student engagement toward pursuits in the interest of career placement of UHD–MDCOB graduates. Candidates that have a commitment to working with a diverse student body. Candidates that have research, teaching and/or industry experience in tax, auditing, accounting information systems or accounting data analytics.
