Kelaca is looking for a Senior Accountant, Tax Compliance and Reporting (REMOTE OR
HYBRID) for our client partner in Durham, NC. The position reports to the Accounting
Manager and plays a critical role within the Accounting & Tax teams, handling a variety of
responsibilities, including tax return preparation and filings, reporting, and US tax compliance.
This role requires a proactive and organized individual capable of managing multiple projects
while delivering accurate and timely results. The successful candidate will also support the
month-end close and year-end processes and will need proficiency in Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the timely preparation and filing of the following tax returns and reports:
o Sales Tax
o B&O Tax
o Ohio Commercial Activity Tax
o Property Tax
o Income Tax - (including -Tax Provision)
o R&D Tax Credit Workbook -completion of corporate R&D tax credit package
o Business Licenses
Provide support and guidance on transfer pricing matters, including documentation and
compliance.
Support tax audits and assist with inquiries related to US tax matters.
Reconcile balance sheet (Tax) accounts monthly to ensure all balances are reconciled and
contain appropriate supporting backup.
Ensure compliance with BD tax policies, GAAP, and regulations.
Support the company's quarterly and annual income tax accrual under ASC 740 with the
assistance of the BD Tax department.
Manage federal and state tax examination and notice responses, including tracking, response
research, coordination, and formulation.
Assist in the budgeting and preparation of tax-related financial projections.
Support process improvement initiatives to streamline and increase efficiencies.
Collaborate with management to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Collaborate with auditors during annual audits, providing necessary information and
clarification.
Skills and Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of accounting and tax experience, preferably at a combination of Big
4 accounting firms and large, complex multinational companies.
Medical technology industry experience is a plus.
Professional certification such as CPA is a plus.
Experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end closing process, and variance analysis.
Solid understanding of GAAP and the ability to apply the concepts to specific situations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced-level skills in Excel to perform analysis
using pivot and lookup tables.
Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience a must.
Enthusiasm for learning, collaborating, and knowledge sharing.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's in tax preferred.
