Sr. Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting, specifically in managing Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing billing, collections, and payments, and providing accurate WIP reports, ensuring financial integrity and compliance throughout the duration of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to maintain precise financial records and support project cost analysis.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all aspects of Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes for construction projects.
With the supervision of a senior accounting leader, document and standardize processes for AR, WIP, and AP and Project Cost/ Change Order processes.
Prepare, review, and distribute accurate and timely Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports.
Ensure accurate billing and timely collections from clients and vendors.
Process and reconcile payments to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
Collaborate closely with project managers to support project cost analysis and financial forecasting.
Communicate with vendors and clients to resolve any billing or payment discrepancies.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting, with a focus on AR, AP, WIP reporting, and Project P&L reporting.
Cost accounting experience is strongly preferred.
Previous experience in Construction Management ERP software (Spectrum a plus).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, vendors, and clients.
