This is a temporary role while an employee is on paternity leave.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, validating and reconciling transactions, communicating effectively, performing tasks with accurate attention to detail, working efficiently under pressure and prioritizing tasks.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, validating and reconciling transactions, communicating effectively, performing tasks with accurate attention to detail, working efficiently under pressure and prioritizing tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accounting tasks: Independently perform routine and assigned accounting tasks, such as bookkeeping, recording transactions, and preparing payments
- Payroll Processing: Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Reconciles and resolves discrepancies efficiently. Effectively utilize Paylocity Reporting.
- Bill Pay Processing: Accurately process vendor invoices, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate accounts payable records, with a strong focus on compliance with non-profit accounting standards and Internal Controls. Effectively utilize Ramp.
- Account reconciliation: Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries. Effectively utilize NetSuite
- Financial reporting: Generate periodic reports, such as on funds deployed, interest accrual, grant management, and delinquencies
- Form preparation: Prepare Form 990 and Form 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC, and file them before the deadline
- Customer service: Provide excellent customer service
- Cross-functional management: Work effectively with members of other departments

- BS/BA degree in Accounting.
- Experience in not-for-profit or for-profit companies in an accounting capacity, with a minimum of three to seven years of experience.
- Experience using NetSuite accounting software.
- Experience using Paylocity Payroll software.
- Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit principles, standards, and practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state government cost standards.
