To be successful as an Inventory Accountant, you should be analytical with strong attention to detail. Ultimately, a top-notch Inventory Accountant should possess an understanding of how inventory impacts the accounting department and should be able to interpret report data and process the necessary journal entries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process inventory purchase orders to manufacturing partners
Match purchase orders to manufacturer invoices submitted to floorplan sources and reconcile any differences.
Approve loans on approved purchase orders and create corresponding journal entries in the DMS.
Maintenance of SPIFF amounts on existing unit inventory.
Monitor aging purchase orders that have not been submitted by the manufacturer to the floorplan source.
Maintenance of unit inventory documents within the DMS.
Assist in the unit repurchase process by issuing appropriate invoices for interest and fees.
Monitor units returned to the factory and issue interest charge invoices where applicable.
Monitoring inventory stocking levels and communicating needs to the Purchasing Manager.
Review transportation invoices to ensure charges are correct and submit to Accounts Payable for payment.
Provide backup to Inventory team for purchasing process
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience with databases and spreadsheets.
Good computer skills.
Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail, math, and multi-tasking skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred. An Associate's degree or two year degree in accounting required. A Business administration, marketing, or a related field with at least 2 years experience will be considered in lieu of the accounting degree.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds at times.
