THIS POSITION IS IN THE OFFICE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists tax manager in preparing tax documents.
Prepare cost segregation analysis for completed construction jobs for assigned companies
Prepare and post journal entries for the following items for assigned portfolio of companies:
Depreciation
Commission and financing fee amortization
Sales, purchases and bank loans
Allocation of land and building basis to appropriate profit centers after completion of construction or lot line adjustments
Accrual to cash adjustments
Cost segregation analysis
Like-kind exchanges
Close retained earnings
Prepare tax returns and venture statements for assigned companies
Identify potential issues and/or areas of concern within the tax returns and venture statements, determine appropriate tax treatment through research and collaborate with Tax Manager.
Prepare financial statements for various partnerships and individuals
Assist tax manager with gathering and preparing information for quarterly tax estimates
Review financial statements for assigned companies on a quarterly basis to ensure information is current and accurate.
Special projects as required
Requirements
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or finance; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge including tiered partnership structures and multi-state preparation.
Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures with emphasis in partnership taxation.
Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to assist with process improvements.
Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with team members in the organization.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience.
Preferred candidates have a current CPA license and a master's degree in an accounting or tax discipline.
Experience with tax software, accounting software, fixed asset software, and Excel.
