Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join their finance team
The Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in analyzing and reporting on the company's cost structure, ensuring accuracy in cost allocation, and supporting financial decision-making through detailed cost analysis
This position requires strong analytical skills, an in-depth understanding of cost accounting principles, and a commitment to process improvement.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed cost analysis for raw materials, labor, overhead, and other manufacturing costs
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs to products and services by analyzing job order costings and process costing systems
- Monitor and report on variances between actual costs and standard costs, identifying causes and providing recommendations for correction
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in relation to cost structures
- Work closely with the inventory team to ensure proper costing, reconciliation, and valuation of inventory
- Analyze product margins, profitability, and pricing strategies, providing actionable insights to management
- Maintain and improve internal controls related to cost accounting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and relevant financial regulations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor, SAP or similar) is required along with excellent Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Work Model:
- 100% in office work model is currently being utilized by this client
Compensation:
- $67,000 - $85,000 annual salary based on experience
