Junior Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seeking a self-motivated, Junior Accountant with a Bachelor or higher degree in Accountancy or related degree/s. Position prefers working experience with non-profit schools, knowledgeable of GAAP and great understanding of fund accounting. Position will require processing quarterlies, payroll and year-end reports, along with an understanding of accounts payables.

We seek a person who can multitask in an extremely fast-paced environment, manage multiple assignments efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines and schedules. Must be a strong team builder/facilitator with the ability to effectively communicate direction, convey complex information in easily understood formats. We require the ability to effectively work in a culturally diverse client environment and have strong problem-solving skills. Position requires solid planning and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate all aspects of each project from inception through completion.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Bachelor of Accountancy or related field.
  • Strong QuickBooks application experience with the ability to complete payroll, accounts payables, input deposits, debits and ability to follow accounting procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), government fund accounting practices, financial statements, budgeting, financial management as well as methods and procedures.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in school finance
  • Experienced in preparing quarterly reports, payroll tax reports and 1099 reporting.
  • Must have overall knowledge and experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Possess effective interpersonal skills and can work well with people.
  • Ability to multi-task is essential and meet deadlines and timelines requested by clients and the CEO.
  • Must be a self-starter and ability to work without supervision and confident in making decisions.
  • Due to the sensitivity of our client's information, must pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Provide administrative assistance with budget and accounting functions for clients.
  • Conduct financial projections and analysis requested by CEO and/or clients.
  • Assist Senior Accountant with preparation, development, monitoring and revision
  • Preparation of monthly bank statement reconciliation of operating cash and investment accounts.
  • Perform internal auditing of all funds.
  • Produce and maintain interim financial statements; monthly financial reports, account analysis to ensure accuracy of USFRCS account code compliance, cash flow reports, etc.
  • Generating cash flow projections on a monthly basis, or sooner as needed
  • Monitor fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring allocations to schools are accurate.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients regarding various procedures and requirements for the purpose of providing necessary information for making sound financial management decisions. Taking appropriate action and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
  • Prepare journal entries in the process of producing monthly financial information and accruals.
  • Make recommendations for new accounting methods as desirable and necessary. Structure the account coding and set up new codes when necessary.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen.
