SmartFinancial is experiencing a tremendous amount of growth, and we are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. Our ideal candidate will assist with all facets of the accounting department to maintain accurate financial records.

The compensation for this position is $70,000-$80,000 plus performance bonus and stock options.

What You'll Do

Performs monthly and yearly close tasks, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable/receivable data and journal entries

Reviews invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing; obtaining authorization of payment; monitoring vendors on payment terms

Collects revenue by reminding delinquent accounts; notifying customers of insufficient payments.

Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions including fixed assets, accruals and prepaid expense schedules.

Supports payroll processing by reviewing timecards, importing commissions & bonuses, and reviewing new comp plan structures

Assists with internal and external audit preparations by extracting necessary information for audit reviews.

Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Participate in developing and improving internal financial controls and accounting processes to enhance efficiency and minimize risks

Requirements

BS/BA degree in Finance/Accounting or relevant work experience

1+ years in a similar or related position

Strong attention to detail and accuracy including data extraction and formulas

Working knowledge of general ledger systems

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills

Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs)

Strong understanding of General ledger, financial statements preparation & analysis

Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new accounting systems and processes.
