STAFF ACCOUNTANT - Newport Beach, CA (HYBRID)
Sares Regis Group is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for our corporate office in Newport Beach, CA!
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions required to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for an assigned portfolio of multi-family residential properties owned by our clients. The position engages in calculating, posting, verifying, and recording financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records with emphasis on account reconciliation, budget and forecast, variance analysis, and overall accuracy and completeness of the financial statements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with emphasis on account reconciliations, budget and forecast, variance analysis, and overall accuracy and completeness of the financial statements for a portfolio of properties.
• Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepares balance sheet, income statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret the financial position of the properties for various managers.
• Initiates bank transactions such as book transfers, wire transfers, stop payments and positive pay exceptions in multiple banking platforms.
• Prepares and/or reviews various cash management activities, including vendor payments, cash deposits, tenant receivables, petty cash, security deposit refunds, distribution calculations and bank reconciliations.
• Monitors and reports any fraudulent banking activities.
• Analyzes delinquencies and establishes bad debt reserves.
• Assists with on-boarding and off-boarding of properties, including preparation of the proration closing statement schedules.
• Reviews and understands various agreements for assigned properties, including management agreements, partnership agreements, loan agreements, resident lease agreements, and ensures transactions adhere to the terms of the respective agreements. Prepares abstracts of relevant agreements to track key terms.
• Ensures timely payment of debt service, real estate taxes and insurance.
• Completes specific sections of the annual budgets and forecasts for assigned properties. Reviews the budgets for reasonableness and completeness.
• Ensures all lender reporting requirements are satisfactorily fulfilled.
• Prepares all schedules and requests from outside audit and tax firms to complete the audits and tax returns in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
• One to three years of related experience, preferably with a multi-family property management company, and a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly intermediate MS Excel skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Yardi Voyager and other Yardi modules preferred.
• Experience with accounting software including thorough knowledge of report writing tool.
Salary range is $37.50-$39.43/hour. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a 401(K) match, rental incentive and renewal compensation, bonuses, and rental discounts depending on location. Regular full-time employees who work between 30-40 hours a week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, other voluntary benefits and vacation accrual, Sick time accrual is provided in accordance with law.
