Pay Range: $30.00-$36.50
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant role is part of the Finance and Accounting team, primarily supporting the Resort Operation businesses including, but not limited to non-for profit vacation ownership associations. This position is responsible for the monthly close process and preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations for the Hyatt Vacation Ownership (HVO) division.
Expected Contributions
• Preparation of reconciliations and journal entries for month end close
• Support senior or manager with budget preparations and forecasts
• Business partner with the resort operations teams
• Coordinate and support accounts receivable and accounts payable with the central teams
• Working with leadership to review audit schedules to prepare for annual audits and prepare workpapers
• Work with auditors and tax preparers
• Following departmental directives to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Driving process improvement to ensure efficiency and scalability
• Contributes to team, department and/or business results by performing the following types of tasks: journal entry compliance, adherence to account reconciliation policy, and partnering with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure organizational success.
• Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
o Utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes
o Allocating own time effectively to meet goals in a manner that does not disadvantage other associates or groups
o Uses problem solving skills to offer solutions to problems encountered day-to-day.
• Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and works to improve and increase skills and knowledge. Accounting and Controls
• Participate in month-end close process ensuring timelines are met, all required entries are recorded, and potential delays/issues are properly communicated and addressed with Leaders.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are supported by appropriate documentation and comply with policies.
• Prepare data and information for annual external audit, including required schedules and ad-hoc requests.
• Ability to interpret standard GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).
• Partners with leadership to complete projects, set priorities and measurable objectives, monitor, and report on the process, progress, and results.
• Responsible for producing high-quality work and/or business results.
• Participate in a positive work environment with collaborative relationships that encourage others and celebrate successes.
• Ability to work under pressure in deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
• Superior communication skills, including the ability to effectively report to direct leadership in a verbal and written format.
Candidate Profile Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred; 1-3 years related work experience in finance and accounting; or, • High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience
