Within this setting, the mission of the School of Accountancy, which is fully accredited by AACSB International, is to provide excellence in accounting education through teaching, research, and service.  We recognize our responsibility to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate accounting education, to conduct applied and instructional research benefiting accounting and business, and to render service to each of our constituencies. The School offers the BBA in Accounting and the Master of Accounting degrees—the latter of which is offered in two formats: traditional and online. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the School through academic research, professional outreach and achieving the School’s mission. Faculty should also be willing to interact with students through activities outside the classroom. The School enrolls more than 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate degree programs and employs 18 full-time accounting and legal studies faculty members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD or DBA in accounting, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in accounting, by August 1, 2025. Evidence of the ability to develop, execute, and maintain a strong research agenda as demonstrated through working papers, conference proceedings, and/or publications. Evidence of the potential for above average teaching ability. Evidence of effective communication skills. Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives. Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline. “Minimum of 5 years full-time college/university teaching experience at the assistant professor level is required for the rank of associate professor along with a strong record of research and service with publications and presentations in professional venues.”

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A teaching and research specialization in auditing is preferred, but we will also consider other areas of specialization.  Related professional experience. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFE, CIA and CISA). Experience working with a diverse student body. Experience in online course delivery, flipped classroom models, and the incorporation of technology into teaching.
