The Fogelman College of Business & Economics (FCBE) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Professor and Director of the Crews School of Accountancy (CSOA), to start no later than Fall 2025. In addition to two Chairs of Excellence, the CSOA has 12 academically diverse, research-oriented full-time faculty members covering all sub-disciplines in accounting. Degrees offered include the BBA at the undergraduate level plus the MS and Ph.D. degrees at the graduate level. All programs are fully accredited by AACSB International and the curriculum for the BBA and MS degrees have recently been updated to comply with the new CPA Exam requirements. As an R1 research institution the University of Memphis has a high-quality research environment that we both value and maintain. The university is committed to a complete renovation of the existing physical structure of the college, with construction beginning as soon as August 2025. Upon completion the FCBE facilities will be an even more attractive place for students, faculty and visitors and will support both teaching and research with cutting edge technology.
Role and Expectations
The Director provides academic and administrative leadership for all operations of the CSOA and is responsible for developing goals and implementing plans to achieve its objectives. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation; curriculum development; research initiatives; program promotion; course scheduling; budgeting; staff supervision; and external relationships with the accounting profession and business community. Teaching responsibilities are one course per semester. The Director serves on the College’s Executive Council.
It is expected that the person in this position will maintain effective, collegial, and respectful working relationships within the CSOA, the FCBE and the University of Memphis campus community. The Director is also expected to uphold a high standard of cultural competency and respect for differences that represents the CSOA’s commitment to equal opportunity.
The College
The Fogelman College of Business & Economics has become a leading business school in the Southeast. Degree programs offered include the BBA, MBA, MA and MS, and PhD. The academic programs of the College are fully accredited by AACSB International. The College faculty of approximately 95 serves over 3,600 students, with approximately 2,200 undergraduates, 1,200 master’s students, and 60 doctoral students. The highly qualified faculty are recognized for scholarship and publications in leading academic and professional journals.

Qualifications and Compensation
The Committee seeks candidates with the following qualifications:
· An earned doctorate in accounting, or closely related discipline
· An established record of professional and academic accomplishment appropriate for appointment as Full Professor with tenure. The search encourages applications from not only Full Professors, but also from rapidly progressing Associate Professors whose work would merit promotion to Professor
· A strong record of scholarship and publication
· Ability to provide leadership through collaboration with the faculty to advance academic programs
· Administrative ability and effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Capability for effective interaction with administrators, the accounting profession and business community in Memphis, nationally and internationally
· Knowledge of and experience with AACSB accreditation policies and practices
· Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA, others) is desirable
