Responsibilities

  • Processes and records payroll for several locations.
  • Responsible for the entire Payroll Administration, including multi state payroll taxes and reconciliation of bank activities.
  • Prepares and reviews payrolls using our 3rd party payroll vendor.
  • Reviews all changes made to the payroll system for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures systems and controls are set up accurately within the payroll system to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of terminations, bonus calculations and manual checks (as needed).
  • Prepares and records activity via journal entry from our 3rd party payroll vendor into our accounting system.
  • Reviews tax filings.
  • Reconciles a variety of payroll deductions.
  • Reviews reconciliation between general ledger and payroll system; identifies any variances and assists with the resolution/recording of corrections.
  • Manages workers’ compensation audits, includes resolution of auditor inquiries and evaluation of findings.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes and provides written explanations of variances of payroll and related expenses and accrued compensation.
  • Ensures that all inquiries received by the payroll team are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and implements changes in processes to enhance internal controls related to payroll processing.
  • Supports audit-related requests surrounding internal control processes and financial statement activity and related balances.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of Federal, State and Local regulatory changes and develops internal and external communications relative to these changes.
  • Supports special projects and analysis as required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Experience processing multi state and multi location payroll.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive, relevant experience.
